THE LUXXLIST DREAM MALL

12 Aug THE LUXXLIST DREAM MALL

By Nina Gelb
CEO & Founder of LuxxList

LA is one of the most exciting media cities in the world. The lifestyle is beautiful, the shopping is great, and we are the heart of what’s trending in style and entertainment. LuxxList is about delivering the coolest and best of the best of where to go, what to buy, what to try. What if we could create a dream destination mall in one location where we wouldn’t have to drive all over the city to find what we love? Welcome to the LuxxList Dream Mall: some of our favorite stores, restaurants, and entertainment in one place. It’s impossible to include all the amazing places this city has to offer, but here’s a taste of what LuxxList loves that represents our LA lifestyle. Consider this your VIP membership that gives you exclusive access to deals, offerings, and private events at stores, restaurants, and entertainment venues. Meet and greet with designers, musicians and artists, tech founders, industry insiders, and style influencers.

Let’s start with your arrival! There are three valet locations and a designated line for Uber and Lyft, to eradicate parking headaches and expedite the travel process. Of course, we offer car wash, detailing, and plenty of electric car chargers. Instead of tickets, they send you a text with the claim number (paper tickets are cumbersome). We have the convenience of workout options such as super haute places: Hot 8 Yoga, Soul Cycle, Equinox (Head trainer Yumi Warner and my trainer Tristan Kovacs!). Work out and shower at any time of the day. As far as movies go, iPic’s upscale theaters with plush reclining seats, light bites, and cocktails make the ticket price worth it. There is a WeWork space, with private rooms that offer video conferencing (face-to-face meetings are always ideal and we are digitally oriented).

As far as restaurants and dining spots, there’s a Blue Bottle and a Verve, each having its own takeout window. A Nespresso boutique coffee bar would be great too, as people take their coffee very seriously. Similarly, juicing bars are paramount. Sun Life Organics (Malibu) would have to be at our mall. Its “Million Dollar Smoothie” is always in my life…along with bowls and fresh organic salads! Lifehouse Tonics & Elixirs on Sunset has to have a place here – its superfood smoothies, tonics, and elixirs are heavenly after a hot yoga or soul cycle class.

Brentwood’s Farmshop with its artisan market. La Scala Presto with the best chopped salad in the city. Downtown’s Chicas Tacos: organic, fresh and delicious. Continuing on in our mall, Sugarfish for the “Trust Me” menu, Cecconi’s for pizza, Bar Toscana in Brentwood for its pastas. Dan Tana’s would have a second location here as well, next to a Mr Chow casual (& takeout) and a Wally’s for wine and cocktails. We love guilty pleasures! Coolhaus with its delectable ice cream sandwiches…Sweet Rose Creamery…Go Greek frozen yogurt…In-N-Out Burger…I need to stop here because the list would not be able to end.

Entertainment is essential, as we all love an upstairs lounge with indoor/outdoor seating. Great music, cocktails, and an open space vibe. A high-end karaoke bar would be super fun, along with a music venue for live music, so Adele, Justin and Calvin Harris can sing impromptu performances!

Now to shopping, my specialty. Given the myriad of online shopping sites, I am still attracted to the experience of shopping in stores. I like the participation of working with trusted stylists who curate outfits with me, creating total looks that I can mix with my other clothes. This is why I still choose in-person shopping experience. My stylists send texts and emails (pings) to me when new pieces arrive, knowing exactly my taste and what will fit me. LuxxList features these visionaries and influencers, as well as curating brands and what you need to know. Since our dream mall is a one-stop destination, my muse Nevena Borissova’s CURVE Boutique is top on the LuxxList. She is a fashion pioneer, with one of the best eyes for buying in the business. CURVE has seven stores from LA to Malibu, SF to NYC. The super savvy stylists at CURVE (Ami Lasser, Nevena, Alana Hadid) have dressed me for over a decade, making complete outfits with brands before they are mainstream. Who’s behind some of the hot looks I wear? My CURVE girls! Next up, owners (and sisters) Dawn & Denise of A’maree’s would have a spot here to mirror their jaw-dropping gorgeous store in Newport Beach. Dawn & Denise have amassed one of the best stores in the world for men and women hands down.

Jill Roberts boutique would be great. I love her casual LA lifestyle clothing. I always pop in and out with something cool with the help of Mindy Cole. Barneys Co-Op for men and women is a great staple, along with H’Lorenzo, which carries a lot of European designers that are hard to find. Not to mention Frame Jeans, Alice & Olivia, James Perse, Free City Workshop (best sweats/tshirts). Sportie LA must be at our mall as well, famous for its extensive sneaker collections from all top brands (have you seen the famous Vault?). One of my favorite designers, Isabel Marant, is here of course, along with Balenciaga, Saint Laurent, Ralph Lauren, and Chanel. I would like to bring high- end concept boutiques to this mall from around the world, those that don’t have a presence in America. Super advanced cutting edge stores that feature the coolest in fashion, culture and tech.

La Perla lingerie, Eres bathing suits, and a super cool surf shop will add to my collection. Taschen books, Aesop, art galleries, an Apple Store. One Kings Lane has a showroom for all its talented interior designers as well (an homage to my sister, Ali Pincus, who co-founded the company). A revolving, curated jewelry store, with top designers, is here as well. Pop-ups are a great way to incorporate all the amazing and talented designers that LuxxList loves – evolving constantly, showcasing brands and items before they go mainstream. We all love special edition and selected curated items! Need some help finding that perfect item for yourself or a loved one? Trust our style maven personal stylists to do the shopping for you.

Style for Little LuxxListers is equally essential. We have Fred Segal Kids, Ragg Tattoo, J.Crew Kids & Aviator Nation for the latest in kids style! (just to name a few on our list) CPK, Giggles N’ Hugs, and a kids’ playground for play and events. We even offer a resort-level nanny service, for those times when you need to get some shopping done without the little ones! Children’s Book World, Tommy’s Toy’s and a Kid’s movie theater is also on their block.

Rounding the corner, we have top Beverly Hills hair salons such as Meche (my hairdresser, the uber-talented Joseph Orozco) or Ramirez Tran with top colorists such as KC Carhart (my color genius), a blow-out bar, a high-end men’s shave (or a full- service salon like John Allan’s), and spas such as Thibiant, Kinara Spa, or Ole Hendriksen Face & Body Spa, to name a few. Anastasia waxing salon (which has makeup as well), Damone Roberts, MAC, Kiehl’s. Barneys cosmetics needs a space, since it’s one of the best go-tos for so many of my favorite designer and luxury skin care brands, makeup, cologne, candles, and perfumes. Makeup artists such as Henry Puebla would be available to schedule appointments. Scent Bar on Melrose needs a space as well – it has over 900 brands, many from around the world and hard to get. Where did I get that Eau D’Italie Le Sirens Positano eau de parfum “Morn to Dusk”? Scent Bar!

This is the quintessential & optimum destination that LuxxList is creating. A place where we can socialize, work, have great food and drink, exercise and refresh, connect with our friends, and find the best fashion and beauty. There is nothing quite like it in LA, that’s why there is LuxxList!
